My Life Is in God

As Dave and I packed up to relocate to Florida we fit all of our belongings in a 16-foot POD. As I watched the POD get picked up from my driveway, I told the driver that my life was now in that POD. I was reminded that only my “stuff” was in that POD, not my life.

Stuff is not what life is made of nor is it where we, as children of God, find our worth. We easily get this confused, don’t we? How important for you and I to be clear on who we are in Christ, whom we belong to, and who it is that gives us life.

As we draw closer to Christmas, we have the opportunity to remember that Jesu came to redeem our lives and give us life abundantly. This move has taught me how little I need. Truly, the greatest gift, all we really need, came in the form of a babe in a manger, a perfect sacrifice on the cross, and a Savior who is coming again soon.

This year should have all of us reevaluating what is valuable and worthwhile. I pray we find that all of our stuff pales in comparison to the gift of our life in Him that we have received. Our lives are in His hands!

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”

1 John 5:20
