Making a Change

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV)

Are you stuck in a rut? Are you in a place that doesn’t feel good? Are you in a place that you know God has told you to move from?  Where are you in life right now? Sometimes I get so caught up in life that I don’t take the time to slow down enough to hear what God is telling me.  Being busy is a good thing and, as they say, can keep us out of trouble.  But being too busy can distract us from hearing what God is telling us to do.  Change is a constant thing that needs to take place in our lives in order to grow.  Change is growth, and when we stop changing we die.  This doesn’t mean we die physically, but we stop growing as individuals.  Growth is a necessary part of life and change will make and evolve us into whom and what God wants us to be as long as it is the right change.

The verse noted above in Deuteronomy is telling us to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid.  I was challenged today by someone who shared her story about how God was telling her to change two things in her life. In the end, the change that was needed would ultimately affect those around her in a significant way.  What a great reminder to me that my life is not just my own but the change that God might need to work in me will benefit those around me.

Stop…listen…and learn is something I need to repeat to myself daily.  Many times I find that I am afraid to listen because I am afraid of change.  Even though I know that change is a good thing, it still frightens me and probably you as well, if you are honest with yourself. Change isn’t always easy, but we need to remember that change brings life.

What has God been doing in your life this week?  Are you listening to His voice? Grab hold of this verse and be strong and courageous and dare yourself to make a change for Him.

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, -1 Peter 1:6-7
