Keep Calm and Carry On

That was slogan put out by the British government in 1939 under threat of World War II.
Almost a century later the slogan has been edited to have a number of tag lines after Keep Calm. One of which is Keep Calm and Trust God. I found a little booklet entitled the same by Jake & Keith Provance (Amazon). I would definitely recommend it as a good quick read. It’s full of scripture and lots of sound common sense advice. You won’t find that too often these days. But I sure do like it when I find it! I purchased it five years ago and have referred to it often, more often during these last months that have been so lacking in calm. Look let’s face it if you were going to lack calm a lockdown from a pandemic could get you there straight away. When I experience anxiety instead of a lack of calm, a short slogan is not going to cut it. I’m sure it didn’t for believers in 1939 either. What it does is encourage me to dig deeper. Keep Calm and Trust God and then what? Then we could open our Bibles, look up the words calm and trust, write down and memorize those scriptures, talk to the Lord about it, tell him everything that’s a care to us. He listens and more than that He helps because He cares for us. We can speak the truth to Him and to ourselves something like this; “Lord I’m upset about all this and etc… etc…, I know you hear me and already know these thoughts and fears but I want to tell you about them. What can be done Lord, what should be done? I’m sorry I’ve been anxious and fearful especially since you always tell me not to worry so many times and I do it anyway, maybe that’s why your word says it so many times!”
But God- says; (His word says that a lot too, “But God”)
When we are afraid:
For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
When we are frustrated:
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9
When we are worried:
Cast your burden on the LORD, and he shall sustain you; he shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22
God has given us the sword as part of our armor.
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” Ephesians 6:17
I know mine has been out of its sheath a lot lately. I hope you’ll draw your sword as often as it is needed too. It is a mighty weapon!
The Lord bless you…

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. –Matthew 16:24-25
