In the Word

I’ve read a lot of books recently, and have searched for the answers to living, working, loving, and being more like Jesus in every single one of them when, in reality, I could have just opened my Bible. While reading books inspired by the teachings of Jesus is great; there is nothing better than going straight to the source. We can read as many self-help books as we want, but nothing will ever compare to reading the actual word of God. The words in this book are ALIVE and have the power to heal your heart and mind.

My prayer is to be more disciplined in my reading. I know where the answers are, so why do I choose to go everywhere else before I pick up my Bible? The times I feel the most apathetic, tired, unmotivated, lazy, etc. are the times I need to be in the Word the most!

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. -1 John 2:15-17
