If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say…

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:29‬

Life is undoubtedly hard right now. Not even from coronavirus related things… it’s just hard. It seems to be like that for everyone and it breaks my heart. An important lesson I’ve learned in my adult life is to ALWAYS be kind because you never know what people are truly going through. Someone may look like they’ve got it all together on the outside, but are falling apart on the inside. It sounds so simple; a no brainer… but unfortunately that’s not always the case. Choose each word you speak wisely. Before you react, take a second to think, “how would Jesus handle this situation?” Or “what would Jesus say?” (I know you all have seen WWJD!!!). We all fall short, myself included, but I just urge you to speak from a place of love. Carefully choose your words. Encourage when you can. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

What we say is an overflow of what is in our hearts.

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Luke 6:45
