GO!

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

There are times God asks us to do something that makes absolutely no sense at all. Have you heard Him speak? Did you hear that still small voice? Maybe you questioned what you ate the night before but there was no denying that God spoke to your heart even if it made no sense at all.

I have said that my move to Florida was an Abraham moment. I heard “go” but there were no other directions. I asked a lot of questions. I denied what I heard for a little while. Eventually I had to be obedient. With no clear direction, I sought out where we were to go. South Carolina? Georgia? Florida?

To be honest, Florida was last on my list. I really didn’t want to go there. It was my last pick and I hoped one of the other choices would work out instead. But, here I am.

I don’t know all God has planned for us here, but I have seen glimmers of His plan. Amazingly, we found a church our first Sunday here. It is very much like what we have known in NJ. We are waiting to see if this is where God wants us to serve. God placed some very special people to be our neighbors. Julie and I have already had a long conversation and have much in common. Jim has been helping Dave repair some stairs outside our home. I had the opportunity to share the Colony of Mercy with a father desperate for his son. I met with a friend of Keswick who blessed me with her story of being a missionary and sent to far of places. These “little” glimmers have let me know that God has gone before us and He knows the big picture.

Picking up your life and moving far away can be a daunting task. Following Jesus is hard when you’re comfortable and He moves you outside your comfort zone. What is the alternative? Disobedience? Missing out on something God has planned for you?

You may not hear “Go to the land I will reveal” but what are you hearing Him say? Will you and I choose to hear, trust and obey?

Blessings,

Kathy

Think About This: “Just as a servant knows that he must first obey his master in all things, so the surrender to an implicit and unquestionable obedience must become the essential characteristic of our lives.” – Andrew Murray

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 5-8(NIV)
