Unreasonable Rules

I have the blessing to work daily alongside men that are in the Colony of Mercy. I also have the headache of working alongside some of the men at the Colony of Mercy. Some who just could care less about the basic rules they must follow during there 4 months at Americas Keswick. When they try to bend the rules or even break them there are usually consequences that will follow. They cry, complain, and try to make there case how they are unfairly punished. I let them know that I didn’t make the rules, GOD DID! And when we chose not to follow the rules, well, simply put, we suffer.

Romans 13: 1-2 simply states, “Everyone must submit themselves to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authorities is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those that do will bring judgment on themselves.”

In every working environment, there are rules that we must follow. We may not like them; we may think the boss is doing it wrong or we have a better way of doing things. But there are ways to go about it. Don’t like your job, find another, think you can do it better, start your own company. Don’t like the way our politicians are doing their job, vote them out. Many people stay at jobs for other reasons, they need the benefits for there family, the pay is too good, the hours are great. The only time I would tell anyone to challenge your boss is when they are doing something against God’s rule. Asking you to steal or fudge paperwork to make the books look good. 2Corinthians 9:7……”for God loves a cheerful giver”. Sure, this is used often for tithing but it also reflex’s on our work and the attitudes we bring to it. There are no unreasonable rules in God’s world…. Just rules that will make our lives more enjoyable.

Think About This: “The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders, and interfering with God’s work within us. ” ― A. W. Tozer
