Good morning on this 2nd Monday of January. I trust you had a good New Year’s Day.
At the end of every year, I sit down and map out my goals for the new year. Years ago, my list was longer, but I have found that fewer goals vs. more sets me up for better success.
Most of my goals are tied in with my walk with the Lord:
Daily time in the Word
Reading my devotionals
Journaling what God is teaching me
Praying
The first three are very consistent, but for whatever reason, I still battle with the personal prayer time.
At the end of his life, Dr. Billy Graham was asked if he could live his life over again what he would change. From the lips of the man who preached the gospel to billions of people around the globe, his response was profound. He said he would have studied the Bible and prayed more.
In preparation for my succession, we moved off of the Keswick property. I have a six-minute drive every day, and I decided to use those 12 minutes redemptively by praying.
Anyone who knows me knows I am a list maker. I’ve been that way for years. I function best with lists.
Before Christmas, I read a list of things to pray for in 2024 and decided that every day (as much as possible) I would pray through this list every morning. WARNING – It is a very convicting list. I warned you!!!
The list was compiled by Dr. Dustin Benge:
Years ago I, a popular quote in Christian circles was PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!
That is true, and I have decades in my life to substantiate that truth. But I am warning you and me – praying this list WILL change you and me.
And that’s a good thing.
