I’m Lost!!

“We must pay more attention, therefore, to do what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” – Hebrews 2:1

Coming back from Maryland after visiting our daughter, I wasn’t fully engaged and missed the ramp for going over the Delaware Memorial Bridge…anyone who has been on 95 on a holiday week will understand. Google Maps was not happy with me and she let me know! After passing the exit, Shirley asked if we were going to be lost. Nope!! Knowing that 95 will take me to one of the three bridges that cross the Delaware and back into Jersey…life was good again.

Back what happens when we know and love the Lord Jesus Christ and we drift off into another lane and miss following Him. The prodigal son is the classic example in the bible of one who was lost but then found. Many, myself included, have at one time or another have lost our way. And we all know the right way, we just choose to do it our way until it gets so bad that we need to come home. But coming back home takes a lot pride swallowing, head hanging, shame, guilt, and downright embarrassment.

“…for this son of mine was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found” – Luke 15:24

Men will re-enter the Colony of Mercy and feel so much shame because of them falling back to their old ways. I always welcome them back and let them know that “I’m glad you’re home.” No matter how many times a man comes back, he is loved upon by the staff and fellow Colony men. I wish that was the way in the world we must live in, but sadly it’s not. People will lose their jobs, family, kids and self-respect when they fall. No matter how many times we fall, Jesus is there to pick us back up in His loving arms. He gave the ultimate sacrifice of dying on the cross for sins, not some, but ALL our sins. Past, Presence, and Future.

“I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak…” – Ezekiel 34:16

If you’re lost or know someone who is…ask them to come home!!
