ANOTHER YEAR IS DAWNING

Good morning on this first day of 2024! Happy New Year.

I want to share two things this morning:

First, a list of things to pray for in 2024 that I read last week from the pen of Dustin Benge. It’s a powerful prayer list:

1. Jesus will be my joy!
2. Love will be my language!
3. Mercy will be my attitude!
4. Faithfulness will be my aim!
5. Truth will be my fuel!
6. Gentleness will be my action!
7. God’s glory will be my goal!

Isn’t that powerful? Warning!!! God hears and answers OUR prayers. How will He answer those seven requests in 2024?

 

Second, a powerful text written by the hymn writer Frances Ridley Havergal. The music was written by Samuel S. Wesley and the tune is The Churches One Foundation.

Another Year is Dawning
Another year is dawning; Dear Father let it be,
in working or in waiting, another year with Thee;
Another year of progress, another year of praise,
Another year of proving Thy presence all the days.

Another year of mercies, of faithfulness, and grace;
Another year of gladness in the shining of Thy face;
Another year of leaning upon Thy loving breast;
Another year of trusting, of quiet happy rest.

Another year of service, of witness for Thy love;
Another year of training for holier work above.
Another year is dawning: Dear Father, let it be,
On earth or else in heaven, another year for Thee.
