The Wonder of God’s Creation

My three-year-old grandson loves going on adventures (these adventures are walks in the neighborhood) and he looks for treasures. What is a treasure for a three-year-old? That would be a stone, a stick and maybe a pine cone. There are lots of treasures along the way. Everything fascinates him. He crouches down to watch some bug walking on the ground, he loves watching bees flying around the flowers, and there are lots of questions. “What is that, Mom Mom?” is asked many times. Seeing things through his eyes gives me a new perspective on everything around us. No, it renews my perspective, because I used to look at those things with wonder.
What do you see when you look out the window or walk in your backyard or through your neighborhood? God could have made a black and white world, but He made a world of many shades of colors. He made a world of many varieties of flowers, trees, plants, birds, animals, fish, butterflies, and other insects.
I thank the Lord every morning for the beautiful serenade of the birds. It reminds me that His love and compassions are new every morning. It reminds me of His faithfulness and gives me hope (Lamentations 3: 20-25.) I thank the Lord for the painted skies in the morning and at sunset. He paints beautiful masterpieces. It is truly awesome.
The God who created all things is our Father. He faithfully loves us. Our Father is ruler of all. He is in control of all that happens. Because of those facts, we can have hope. Praise His holy name! Here is one of my favorite hymns written by Maltbie D. Babcock and Franklin L. Sheppard:
- This is my Father’s world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.2. This is my Father’s world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
he shines in all that’s fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.3. This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!
