Only One Worthy…

Angels, Angels everywhere. Necklaces, earrings, clothing, home décor. Is there anything wrong with any of those things? NO. But there is a trend in recent years of the study, fascination and worship of angels.

Angels are not deity.

Angels are not eternal. They are created beings.

Angels are not all-knowing, all-seeing, or all-powerful.

Angels are not infinite.

Angels are ministering spirits that exist to worship God and to do His bidding. (Hebrews 1:4; Luke 1:19, 26; Acts 12:11; Gal 3:19; Rev 1:1)

Angels are not to be worshipped.

In the book of Revelation, John records the visions given to him from God through the agent of an angel. “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” (Rev 22:19).

On occasion, John felt compelled to fall at the angel’s feet as the angel delivered God’s message. The angel was quick to say essentially, ‘do not worship me – I am a fellow servant’.

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!'” (Rev. 19:10).

“Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, ‘See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.’” (Revelation 22:8-9).

In both of these verses the angel directs John’s focus and worship from himself to God. Worship God.
Not even angels are worthy of worship. God is the only One worthy …

Diane
