Let there be Light!

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.” – Genesis 1:3-4

I’ve gotten into a new habit lately. Whenever I am struggling with something, whenever I go into a worldly environment, whenever I see sin present in my life or in the lives of those I love, I pray ‘Lord… let there be light!’

We read in Genesis 1:3 that the Lord brought light to the entire world with just a few words from His mouth. Keeping that in mind, can you imagine how much light He can bring to your difficult situation if you simply lean into Him? He can bring guidance, restoration, and healing. He can take a situation from horrible to beautiful, and He has… because He loves us. His light doesn’t just bring a situation from dark to dim, His light penetrates the darkness. He separates the light from the darkness for His glory.

John 1:5 says “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

So… what are you dealing with in this season of your life?

  • Sickness? Lord, let there be light!
  • Finances? Lord, let there be light!
  • Sin? Lord, let there be light!
  • Depression or Anxiety? Lord, let there be light!
  • Relationships? Lord, let there be light!
  • Unbelieving family members? Lord, let there be light!

In John 8:12, Jesus called Himself ‘The Light of the World.’

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

What’s truly staggering, amazing, encouraging, and humbling is that in Matthew 5:14, Christ applies the same exact name to His followers: “you are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” But more on that in the next Victory Call…  🙂

I hope you enjoy your first day of spring! I’m praying that it’s a bright, sunshine-y day wherever you are.
