Learning to let God lead you (Part 1)

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not disaster,to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. The Lord put this on my heart to share and I pray this helps anyone who struggles with how to know when and how to trust godly advice. This is my experience and I pray it helps those who question “how do I know what is right?”
When I became a Christian, I was blessed with a wonderful godly friend who walked with me. I would go to her with questions and advice all the time. We would laugh because sometimes I called her 4 or 5 times in a day wanting to know if I was making godly choices. She is my friend and was a great mentor. Then, there was one time that she had to go away. She said that if I needed her to just call, but she was with her family so that was not going to happen. Of course God knew that. So I can’t remember what happened exactly, but I was struggling with something and needed help, but she was away so all I could do was go to my Father and ask Him. Well, everything worked out and when she came back we talked about it and that was that, or so we thought.
I continued to seek her anytime I didn’t know what to do. The Lord in all His wisdom sent her away again, and again, and again. It got to the point where she would say ‘I wonder what Father is going to teach you this time?’ What was happening?? God was teaching me to go to Him, not her, for godly advice. I started depending on her instead of God, not because I thought she knew more but because I believed God talked to her and not me. Also I believe that I wouldn’t know His voice from the enemy had I not learned to go to Him. So I started to grow in my walk with God. It was amazing. I worshiped in my home and went on prayer walks through my neighborhood. Life was going along pretty good as far as my faith walk. I was able to get involved in ministries at my church at the time and I was confident in my relationship with Him.
But God wanted to grow me further and so things again started to change… I’ll let you know what happened next week!
