How Much Do You Love Me?

Posted on January 11, 2019 by America's Keswick in Victory Call

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

After my husband tells me he loves me I have gotten into the habit of asking him, “How much?” I just want him to come up with creative ways to tell me! Usually he rolls his eyes not knowing how to answer me differently than he already has. Malachi 1:2 says, “I have loved you,” says the Lord, “Yet you say ‘In what way have You loved us?’” I can ask God the same question.  When trials have come into my life I don’t always feel, see or trust that God loves me. “How much can You love me and let _____happen? If You loved me so much You would ____?”   Maybe hearing “Jesus loves you” has become so familiar we don’t even hear it anymore. Perhaps we have lost the awe of God’s love for us.

While working on a Bible study I was led to read John 3:16. I was ready to skip over the verse. I know this one by heart. I have read it so many times. Did I really need to even look at it again? I turned to the passage half-heartedly but God showed me again just how much He loves me. He showed me that He is love, the giver of love. He is a Redeemer, Savior and Provider of eternal life. In this very familiar verse He showed me again how much He loves me and how that was proven by Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. I just needed to come to that familiar verse willing to hear Him tell me again just how much He loves me.

Let me encourage you to read a verse or two about God’s love. Don’t just read it but ask Him, “How much do You love me?” He never gets tired of telling you and He can be very creative with His answers!
