Happy New Year 5778 – Part 1

I want to address the Jewish feast of Rosh Hashanah with you today, which is celebrated in September.  As Christians we have been grafted into the blessings of the Hebrew special times and seasons, if we choose to.

And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.)  So come enter in. (Romans 11:23 (NKJV)
This first feast of the New Hebrew Year 5778 has many names.  It can be called The Feast of Trumpets, Rosh Hashanah, Head of the Year or New Year.  It falls on the first day of the seventh Hebrew month, Tishrei (Leviticus 23:23-25). This year The Feast of Trumpets falls on our calendar on September 21-22.  On this day the Jewish people celebrate the birthday of the world believing it is the anniversary of creation.  The TRUMPET is sounded as a WAKE UP call.  All are called to WAKE UP and celebrate the birthday of the world and then over ten days, called The Days of Awe, seek the Lord.  Praise fills the temple and the Jewish people stand in awe of God.
I would invite you to embrace the Feast of Trumpets, (Rosh Hashanah, Head of the Year or New Year) by sounding a TRUMPET (blow the shofar or give a shout or make a noise with an instrument or play praise music) and WAKE UP, dear sister.  It would be so wonderful if we, God’s people, would make our first priority in the New Hebrew Year to WAKE UP a heart to worship our God with passion and to seek His face.  We can do this; we can enter ten days of seeking the face of our glorious God and stand in awe of Him.  I know He will meet with you and move upon your heart, mind and soul.
Here are some scriptures you can review and consider over the New Year and 10 Days of Awe (Sept. 21-30)

  • Deuteronomy 4:29 (NKJV) But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  • 2 Chronicles 20:3 (NKJV) And Jehoshaphat feared, and set Himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
  • Psalm 22:26 (NKJV) The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord. Let your heart live forever!
  • Psalm 119:2 (NKJV) Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!

Happy New Year dear sister.
Be richly blessed,

Pat
