God Sighting

Just wanted to share a 🔎 God Sighting 🔍 from the other day. Lately my Scripture readings have been centered around the word ‘Joy.’ The joy of the Lord is a precious thing, and even in the midst of busy or difficult seasons, I want to experience it. About a week ago, I opened my Bible to the concordance and wrote down the address of every verse that contains the word ‘joy.’ Every day, I write down one verse, study the chapter, and meditate on why the people in the text experienced joy and how it can apply to my life.

The other day, I was babysitting my precious niece. As we were playing with the rubber duckies I keep in my room (don’t ask!), she pulled a clear bag off of my bedside table that has been there since Christmas. It was a book my church had given me for serving in Children’s Ministry, but I always assumed it was just a notebook, so I never opened it.

She took out the book and it was titled, ‘Choose Joy: 3 Minute Devotionals for Women.’ When I saw it, I smiled, because I knew it was a book God had sitting in my bedroom for this very moment. But the story doesn’t stop there. My niece looked at me and insisted we read it together. When I suggested that we read one of the picture books I had in my house specifically for her, she kept saying ‘No! I want to read this little book.’ 📒

So there I was, snuggled up on the couch underneath a big fuzzy blanket, reading all about the joy of the Lord with sweet Bella Rose. Not only was I *reading* about the joy of the Lord, but I was EXPERIENCING it because the Lord gave me such a gift in THAT moment. In HIS presence. WITH my sweet, love-filled, giggly niece. It was one of those ‘Thank you, Lord’ highlights of my month.

Deuteronomy 31:8 tells us that the Lord is with us. That begs the question, have you had a God-Sighting in this past month? If so, write it down! Don’t forget it! It’s a great thing to revisit when times get tough.

Think About This: Spiritual strongholds begin with a thought. One thought becomes a consideration. A consideration develops into an attitude, which leads then to action. Action repeated becomes a habit, and a habit establishes a “power base for the enemy,” that is, a stronghold.  – Elisabeth Elliot
