Go and Sin No More

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For one laden with guilt and shame, this verse breathes fresh air into their heart and soul.
We have all been there – burdened by some sin we can’t seem to conquer or vanquish, knowing in our head we are forgiven but feeling condemnation in our heart.
Allowing the truth of the totality of God’s forgiveness to overwhelm our heart brings amazing and glorious freedom and peace.
Yet let us also consider John 8 – the story of the woman caught in adultery brought to Jesus by the scribes and Pharisees – seeking to stone her. Jesus responded to them “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7) One by one they left – Jesus said to the woman “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” (John 8:10-11)
It struck me as I read this that, as followers of Jesus Christ, there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Romans) and as we are set gloriously free of the guilt and shame, we should go and sin no more.
Blessings,
