For Real

There I was on my knees, head bowed – prayers of praise and worship, delighting in my Savior.  Oh, how I love Him in the stillness of my room.

I want to see others as made in the image of God.

I want to love like Jesus.

I want to love overlooking a multitude of sins.

I want to be kind like Jesus.

I want to be silent like Jesus.

I want to express compassion like Jesus.

I want to forgive like Jesus.

I want to obey like Jesus.

I want to overcome like Jesus.

I want to resist temptation like Jesus.

I want to grow in Christlikeness.

As I kneel there, I know this is true as I pray and worship.  But I also know, that in the ins and outs of my days these thoughts are far too often forgotten. Do you find that to be true for you too?

In a recent message by Chaplain Bill Pruitt, he shared what a friend said to him, “There is victory in the struggle. The fact that you care today about honoring God with your body and your life…” Bill went on to say, “that’s victory…The fact that you’re struggling, Praise God that you’re struggling, it’s evidence of the Holy Spirit of God working in your life – it’s a sanctifying process.”  What a great reminder.  Are you struggling with sin in your life? We only fail when we give up the struggle, when we give up the fight.

Keep fighting for faith. Keep fighting for obedience. Keep fighting for love, kindness, forgiveness, compassion and growth. Keep fighting for that which is true in the quietness of your prayers to be true and evident in the ins and outs of daily life.

Don’t be content with what is; keep pressing in and pressing on to become more and more like Jesus.

Blessings,

Diane
