FIRE
Posted on May 11, 2017 by Graeme Wilson in Victory Call
Early in my Christian walk, I had a pastor who presented a great visual that has stayed with me all these years. I’d like to share it with you today.
Pastor asked the question, “Where there is a fire, what do you do? Do you throw fuel on it or do you throw water on it?” What he was referencing were times in our lives when someone “shares” something that will figuratively light a fire, what do you do? Words that essentially are spoken to lie, steal, or destroy someone or something can be ignited with fuel or doused with water and put out. Of course he encouraged us to throw water and put out destructive words. You can do that in many ways. At work it may mean that I respond by saying, “Excuse me, I have to get back to work.” Out with friends, it may mean saying something like, “Everything is not always as it appears to be.” It may even mean having to say something like, “I really do not care to talk about ______.”
Today, as you interact with people, choose carefully how to respond to those who are attempting to light a fire. Get out your water hose, you may save a life.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Ps. 19:14 (NKJV)
Blessings,
Patricia Wenzel
