Direct Access to God

I was supposed to talk with my three-year-old grandson today using Skype. It was a great disappointment to receive a text from my son saying that the internet was not working. They were having an ice storm and it seems that the lines were down somewhere.
As I was thinking about this, a beautiful thought came to mind, “I’m glad I do not need the internet to talk with God.” We can talk with Him anytime, anyplace. Hebrews 10: 19-22 tells us, Since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus…and have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…
Through Jesus’ blood we can come before God’s throne at any time. We will never be disappointed. Even when we sin, we can come before Him in repentance and He will forgive us (1 John 1:9.) We are told to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17.) And, these verses in Hebrews tell us that we should draw near to God and can do so with complete confidence.
There is a beautiful hymn that reminds us we should pray in every situation:
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
So, why don’t we take it to the Lord in prayer?
