A Graduation Prayer

Posted on May 17, 2019 by America's Keswick in Victory Call

When my daughter graduated from high school around 25 years ago, I looked for a Bible passage to encourage her to live for the Lord.  Two years later, when my son graduated, I sought the same thing.  Both times the only Scripture that spoke my deep-felt yearnings for them was the same.  Now, my grand-daughter is graduating from high school and my prayer for her is the same, Colossians 1:9-12:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Isn’t that a beautiful prayer?  I started praying for them even before they were born.  Every day I pray for them and will continue to do so.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will give them wisdom and knowledge of God as they read His word and live the life He has given them.  I pray that that life is one that pleases Him.  I pray that they will turn to God and grab onto His power to make it through every situation in life with endurance and patience, bringing glory to God and His kingdom.  I pray that they will be thankful and joyful as they remember that this life is temporal and only what they do for Christ is a treasure stored up in heaven, and that they have eternity with Christ to look forward to.

This is a prayer we can pray for anyone.  Do you have someone in mind?
