🌷 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝚂𝙼𝙴𝙻𝙻 𝚃𝙷𝙴 ROSES 🌷

The Lord has blessed me with 3 precious nephews and 3 cherished nieces. Only one of them is related by blood, but all of them are related in love.

As an aunt, I want to take the time to “smell the roses” by relishing in the joyful moments I have with these little ones. I want to be present in the moments my nieces are cuddling with me. I want to be focused when my nephews tell me their stories. I want to give all my attention to these precious children when they want to play doctor, restaurant, or dolls with me.

Sometimes, being present and focused can be hard for me. I get distracted by my phone, or by another conversation I hear, or by my own thoughts – “𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸? 𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘐 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺…?” You get the gist.

Just as I want to be intentional when I spend time with my nieces and nephews, I also want to be so intentional when I spend time with my Jesus – and protect that time first and foremost. What rewards we can experience when we meditate on His teachings, talk to Him about our days, seek His answers to our questions, and “set [our] minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).  

 

Let’s stop and smell the roses with the Lord today!
