Why Do It?

“The strongest Love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility.” ~ coeltho
So why did they do it? Why humble themselves and allow me to stand on their backs so I could press onward? Why did they give so much at a great cost to themselves..? The answer is, because their Savior had. The common factor between everyone who invested in me is their faith in Jesus Christ; who, “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross” (Philippians 2:6-8).
Do you see it? He ‘gave up’ His position and privilege, and He ‘took on’ our position of condemned sinner with its sentence of a cursed death, all in obedience to God? Why? Because God so loved you and me that He gave His ‘one of a kind’ Son in our place, He did it so when we believed in His completed work of salvation, we would have everlasting life with Him. Each person that has invested in me knew this and had entrusted their lives to His care, knowing He was the everlasting Rock on which they stood, and from whom all the blessings of God flow into our lives. Because they had done so, they were free and empowered by His love to pour themselves into others. They did this because they understood how much God Loves them, and they desired that others know the truth as well. They were paying His Love forward.
We can’t pay God back, nor does He want us to. Under His New Covenant in Jesus, when we believe we are declared righteous, no longer having to work for it on our own. What confidence, security and strength this truth produces in us, freeing us from the labor of uncertainty and enabling us to give from the resources God is pouring into our lives as His children.
Jesus is our example of making ourselves vulnerable to others by manifesting the Love of God; we can give as He does, because He stands as the everlasting Rock beneath our feet.
Choose wisely…
“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:9-11).

Daily Quote: “Put together all the tenderest love you know of dear reader the deepest you have ever felt and the strongest that has ever been poured out upon you and heap upon it all the love of all the loving human hearts in the world and then multiply it by infinity and you will begin perhaps to have some faint glimpses of what the love of God in Christ Jesus is.” – Hannah Whitall Smith
