“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”- Romans 10:1-3 (NKJV)
I got those times where I get stuck in a television series simply because of the technology that’s being introduced. I’m a fan of two major series on the History Channel (at the moment) because of the way they’re both using the latest gadget to figure out two things: science and history. One show is about what’s at the bottom of “The Money Pit,” the other what’s inside “The Mesa.” Both shows call into question all possible theories as to why these locations are significant and the need of the latest gadget to either prove or disprove any and/or all theories.
One show points to a religious order and their possible purposes; the other towards the heavens and its possible purposes. So, even if that is their only distinguishing trait, both possibilities put too much faith into what man can do to figure out why he does what he does. You may think that after saying all that I would just turn the channel to wherever David Jeremaih is preaching just so my eternal soul won’t get lost, but as I told my children when they were in school, “We need to learn their facts, we need to pass their tests, then we need to use their information against them in our apologetics to defend the faith.”
Now that would also take having a Biblical worldview, and with all the nonsense that comes outta every gadget that we personally own, it can be hard to maintain that Biblical position. If we ran everything we viewed, either on purpose or by accident through Scripture, we’d be doomed to brimstone and hellfire. THAT alone should make me turn the channel, however, I don’t (I should say “What I wretched man I am” but you already know that), instead I’ll sit there and stare then ask, “Who is running things here on earth?”
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” — Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)
Apart from the gadgets that help the spread of the world’s discontent with the worlds discontent, the Old Testament world doesn’t look too much different does it? Remove the technology from us and we might just see things for what they really are. It would take a lot of faith in something in order to maintain some sorta peaceful living style that would carry over into society and give honor to some sorta sovereign in our lives. Well, since I’m O.T’ing here, allow me to remind you all of what was once said amongst a people who knew that they were delivered from oppression by YHVH, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Moses may not have had the Bible to open and preach from, but the one thing that we can be sure of, because of what he knew of God’s Sovereignty, Moses could, by faith, give utterance to His Word. Moses was saying, once you crossover into what God has promised you, it’ll be up to you to choose the way to go. Ya see, when you get stuck in a position where who’s in control comes into question, Gods Word will have that answer. In His Sovereignty God gave us His Word, so that when take a read into Romans 1: 16-25, you can make the right choice to go by and understand the WHO is in charge part.
I hope you weren’t thinking that I would give our adversary any credit for running things here on earth. That would be like sticking my head in “The Money Pit” or “The Mesa” to see if spacey wormholes or worldly riches are actually there. However, I won’t disagree with the notion that he is really ruining things on earth and twisting technology to do it. But I don’t wanna end on that note. Allow me to borrow from Tozer on the matter…
“His eternal purposes will not change; however, the prophetic teachers may change their minds or whatever contemporary theologians may decide is the right thing to believe. God almighty has already given us his theology, and I don’t give a snap of my finger for contemporary theology. I believe in theology, which is contemporary surely, but it is also as ancient as the throne of God and as eternal as the eternities to come. And we as Christians are in this mighty river, being carried along by the sovereign purposes of God.”
Amen?

Think About This: “God’s sovereignty means that He is in control of everything, that He planned everything from the beginning. Man’s free will means that he can, anytime he wants make most any choice he please (within his human limitations of course). Man’s free will can apparently defy the purposes of God and will against the will of God. Now how do we resolve this seeming contradiction?” — A.W. Tozer
This Week’s Verse to Memorize: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;” – Hebrews 1:1-2

Beautiful atmosphere/scenery. Inspiring speaker. Accommodating me with a gluten free lunch was great. Spoke with a young man who told us that this place changed his life. This gave us a chance to witness to him by telling him the gospel message.

It was a wonderful experience. Besides the spiritual side of it, the place is absolutely gorgeous. Delicious food. The only thing I didn't like were the ants in the bedroom.
