What’s Your One Word for 2016?

Posted on December 28, 2015 by America's Keswick in Freedom Fighters

I trust you and your families had a blessed Christmas. It is a wonderful time of the year to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

For the past several years I have challenged our partners and you to prayerfully consider one word for the year that you can focus on as well as putting a verse with that word. The idea is not original with me. I learned this principle from author Jon Gordon who has written a classic book on this subject. I commend it to you.

Last year my word was HOPE and the verse the Lord gave me was our theme verse from Joshua 1:9. It was a timely word and I was amazed how often it appeared in messages, emails, blogs, and in my reading.

Tomorrowland 2016_LetterThis year our theme is TOMORROW LAND: FACING THE FUTURE WITH CONFIDENCE. Our theme verse is from Philippians 1:6 which is “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

As 2016 fast approaches all of us probably find ourselves a little unsettled if we are really honest. Just think about the world in which we are living. In 2014 the American people were polled and asked what their top fears were. Are you ready for this?

1. Walking alone at night

2. Being a victim of identity theft

3. Safety of the internet

4. Being the victim of a mass/random shooting

5. Public speaking

The same pollsters asked Americans this year what their fears were and here are the results:

44% fear terrorism right here in America 41% biological warfare 40% government corruption 38% economic collapse

Dr. Jack Carhart gave a description of fear years ago: False Evidence Appearing Real. Pastor John Hibbard reminds us that the opposite of fear is faith: Forsaking All I Trust Him.

As I was studying a message on fear and faith, the Lord gave me my word for 2016 = TRUST. That is biggest way that we can face the future with confidence – trusting in Him. I am planning to read through the Scriptures again this year and I am hoping you will join us. I have my highlighter read to see how many times the word TRUST will appear.

Will you join me in picking a word? If you, would you send me your word. I’d like to be praying for you that God will wow you with His glory and presence as He teaches you and me about the words He has for us. Happy New Year – and God bless you.

Facing the future with confidence,

Think About This: Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in right paths. ~Proverbs 4:11 (NKJV)
