We Always Become What We Worship

An archeological dig reveals a lot about a civilization. What is left in the wake of culture is excavated revealing the truth of how they lived, what they were capable of, where they were vulnerable, and what they worshiped? Imagine your life as one of these civilizations being excavated; what would they find when they dug into the motivation and desires that drove your choices? Would they find honesty, truth, and love; or selfishness, jealousy, and pride…? Ultimately what they find will reveal who or what you worshiped… who it is that sits on the throne of your life?

There are many who give lip service to believing in God, and many have the head knowledge of who Jesus might be, but statistically, less than 17% of those who at least claim to be Christians are Bible illiterate. This means they have very little grasp of basic biblical principles and less application of them to their choices.

The Bible tells us that wisdom and good choices begin with ‘the fear of the Lord.’ This is not because we are afraid of Him, but that we have understood He is Absolute Perfection, and we are afraid NOT to live in accordance with His will for what we will lose, most importantly… our relationship with God than enables us to call Him Father. It’s this wisdom that puts God on the throne of our lives. And it’s this unfolding wisdom, found in His Word that has us seeking Him with a growing love and faith.

If you are honest about what you find when you dig down into your heart and don’t like the inventory of what you have stored there, then simply ask God to forgive you and restore His place on the throne of your heart. You will be amazed at what joy and rest you will know from you’re striving to rule yourself; if only you would follow the way, and the truth and the life that leads to God found only in Jesus Christ.

Who sits on the throne of your heart? It’s easy to tell, just ask, “Where were you worshiping today and why did you do it?”

Choose wisely…

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8)
