We All Need Someplace to Hide…

Life has the tendency to be overwhelming; to slide back onto you like an avalanche at times. Pain, sorrow, breakdowns, frustration, confusion, choices, responses, deadlines, opinions, struggles, battles, the unexpected, and all the unknowns… they build up like a high tower and you stand exposed and vulnerable, facing a wall with no foreseeable way to press on.

It is here that I meet the Lord each morning and remember, “You are my refuge and my shield; Your Word is my source of hope.” (Psalms 119:114)

We all need someplace to hide away from the battles of life to find rest and renew our minds. A place to remember that the battle is the Lords and He has promised to fight for us; “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these (His promises)? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” (Romans 8:31) or how about, “For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’” (Deut 20:4).

How wonderful it is that Jesus is that place of rest, for He has commanded us, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28). It is in His presence we can cry out, “Lord, sustain me as you promised that I may live! Do not let my hope be crushed. Sustain me, and I will be rescued; then I will meditate continually on your decrees” (Psalm 119:116-117). If we do not turn to Jesus and receive what He is freely and graciously offering us, we are left to face the unbearable wall ourselves; the end to that is despair. But there is Hope and His name is Jesus. Won’t you step into His outstretched arms and find rest today?

Choose wisely….

Day by day, and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.

He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure, Gives unto each day what He deems best, Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Think About This: “Prayer is the spontaneous response of the believing heart to God. Those truly transformed by Jesus Christ find themselves lost in wonder and joy of communion with Him. Prayer is as natural for the Christian as breathing.” – John MacArthur

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my [a]strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the [b]horn of my salvation, my stronghold. –Psalm 18:1-2
