Time to Think About Your 2018 Quiet Time
Posted on December 4, 2017 by Graeme Wilson in Freedom Fighters
It’s that time of year when many of us are winding down our devotional readings and possibly looking for recommendations for 2018.
Welcome to December. It’s hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner. Thank you for joining us each week as we serve you through the ministry of the America’s Keswick Freedom Fighter blog.
I have been researching and choosing my devotional readings for 2018 and wanted to give you some recommendations for your consideration.
First of all, our 2018 theme is UNLEASHING HOPE IN A CONFUSING WORLD. Our theme verse is “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” – Romans 15:13.
I firmly believe that the major part of your quiet time with the Lord should be in the systematic reading of God’s Word. Our 2018 Bible Reading Plan is available in hard copy as well as a downloadable version right from our website. This year we are reading through the Bible chronologically. We’d love to have you join us.
Here are some new devotional books I am recommending to you for 2018. All of the links are from Amazon.com. If you haven’t done so, you can help America’s Keswick by signing into smile.amazon.com and making us your charity of choice. We will receive a percentage of any Amazon purchase you make.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness is a new devotional by Discovery House, publisher of Our Daily Bread. This is a leather-bound devotional that will speak to your heart.
He Holds My Hand – Experiencing God’s Presence and Protection is a new devotional written by my friend, Carol Kent, who is a popular speaker at America’s Keswick. I started this one in October, and it is a powerful devotional.
God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life is written by Pastor-Teacher, Pastor Tim Keller. It is a look into the book of Proverbs. Each day’s meditation concludes with a prayer written by Pastor Tim.
Prayers of the Bible – 366 Devotionals to Encourage Your Prayer Life is a meaty look at the many prayers from the Bible. It is more expository and depth than the average devotional. I am looking forward to digging into this one.
Daily Moments of Strength – Inspiration For Men was compiled by our good friends at Walk Thru The Bible. I love their stuff, and it is always both convicting and practical.
Praying Through the Bible For Your Kids is a fun new way to study prayer but at the same time a way to pray for your kids. It was compiled by Nancy Gutherie.
Morning and Evening Devotions by David Jeremiah. What can I say but great stuff to start your day? He is one of America’s leading Pastors.
I trust you will consider purchasing one or more of these resources to add to your devotional library. Next week I will share some of the classic devotionals that are my “go back to” ones.
Rejoice! Pray! Give Thanks!
