The Attacks are Getting Stronger
Posted on June 5, 2023 by Elizabeth Welte in Freedom Fighters
We knew it was bound to happen. The enemy is unleashing his arsenal of attacks, and it seems like it is increasing daily.
Ministries are under attack, and we need to be mindful that in these last days, it is going to get worse. Every ministry goes through good and difficult times. That is a part of the life cycle of an organization. And it does seem that when you are doing the things God has called you to do, the enemy is not happy and the attacks come.
A local ministry has been under fire, and they need our prayers. The ministry of Ocean Grove was founded in 1869 and has been a viable ministry for over a century. Ocean Grove is unique in that they own the beach and the boardwalk. Like most beaches, they have beach tags, and this year they have a cross on the tag. This has caused a swell of opposition from the town, and many of the residents are furious about the fact that they have to have a beach tag with a cross on it. They are also under fire because they have had several speakers who have called out sin in their messages, and there are people that want them removed from speaking out on biblical issues.
Our nation has so drifted from our Judeo-Christian founding. Christians are under attack on every level, and I think it is only going to get worse.
This is not a time for us to shrink back and live in fear. God is still on the throne, and we know the end of the book.
There were many great movements of God that came out of difficult times. In 1829, when it was difficult to even find a Bible, William Strickland and Robert Aiken were used by God in a powerful way.
In 1781, Aiken petitioned Congress for permission to publish an edition of the Bible. Congress voted to endorse the project, and this resulted in the first English Bibles printed in the United States. This is what unfolded:
Resolved, That the United States in Congress assembled highly approve the pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitkin, as subservient to the interest of religion as well as an influence of the progress of arts in this country and being satisfied from the above report [by the congressional chaplains] . . . recommend this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States and hereby authorize him to publish this recommendation in the manner he shall think proper.2
Morgan, Robert J.. 100 Bible Verses That Made America (p. 160). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
In 1816, Aiken formed the American Bible Society, and they sought to accomplish an impossible task – to provide every family in America with a Bible.
So these are not times to cower in fear. These are not times to throw up our hands and give in. These are times to be on our knees crying out to God for revival. Many Christian leaders are sensing that revival is coming. Revival starts with you and me.
So be encouraged today. Pray for your church. Pray for the ministries you love. My life verse is truer today than ever before: “Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labors are not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58.

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.” – Hebrews 2:10-11
