Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
It’s summer season at America’s Keswick. A time for family and friends to come together and unwind, have some great fun, make memories that will last a lifetime, and hear God’s awesome and mighty Word in a way that we may not have heard it before. Every year I am blessed to meet the speakers and guests that come through the back door of the kitchen, like an old friend greeting all that they meet with a warm smile, and taking time to speak with some of the men of the Colony to encourage them in their walk.
But behind the scenes, the devil lurks and tries to steal our joy. Day one, the septic backs up, the freezer goes down, the air conditioner in the kitchen breaks, health scares of people we love and adore haunt our thoughts. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Every day at least one department is tested in ways that, prayerfully, will never be seen by our guests. The support that we have for one another is amazing. It is a team effort of the highest order. Our total faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ keeps us going to serve our guests and one another.
It is no easy task making things look effortless. There are hundreds of pieces to the puzzle that make Keswick come together. And if one of those pieces is missing, it’s like the proverbial wrench getting thrown in to the mix. So, as you go about your day, I would ask that you pray for all the volunteers, summer staff, full- and part-time employees that make it look so easy, but they may be suffering inside. There are many, and I do mean MANY, wonderful and awesome guests, that will always go out of there way with a “pat on the back” or “great job” and thank us for what we do. Prayer warriors abound in the Keswick family and we are blessed by you.
Thanks for praying for us!
“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
Written by Robert Breault: Robert was blessed to work 8 years in the Keswick Raws kitchen and is now retired, well, almost. He’s a loving husband to Shirley, a wicked stepfather to Shirley’s three “Angels”/children, and a doting Pop-Pop to their two grandchildren, Charlotte and Max. But most important, he is a child of the one true King!

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:14-15
