“To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins.” – Luke 1:77

Have you ever been at a place where you realize everything you thought was right is wrong? That when you thought you were in control you find out you’re not? You thought you knew the way, but you were lost?

Before coming to Christ I had a plan and a purpose. It seemed to me that I was in total control, and as long as everyone cooperated, my plan was foolproof. Then reality set in. Although on the outside everything looked good, it wasn’t. Soon it all began to fall apart. I then realized I had a need. All the things I tried couldn’t fill it, and my best thinking was soon revealed as rubbish and I was lost. HELP!

Whether you’ve been there or not, God had a plan already in place for those who are willing to receive the gift of His Son. ‘Tis the season we celebrate that Gift. It’s a gift we’ve received but it’s also one we can give. The proclamation in the closing verses in Luke 1 are referring to John the Baptist, the forerunner for Jesus through Zacharias’ Prophecy. Luke finishes the chapter with these truths,

To give knowledge of salvation to His people

 By the remission of their sins.

Through the tender mercy of our God,

With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;

To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,

To guide our feet into the way of peace.”

This plan comes with the true knowledge of salvation and our place in the Kingdom of God. Peter tells us in his second epistle chapter 3 verse 18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”

There’s a picture of us sitting in the dark, looking to the East, waiting for the Dayspring to bring light. As I’m writing this the sun is coming up and I can turn off the false lights of my house and enjoy the brightness that comes from above.

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,

“Therefore I hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24

If you feel lost, each day is a new opportunity to adjust our thinking and align it with the Truth of His Word. God offers us comfort from this worlds troubles and a Guide to see us through til we go Home, Amen!

The Daily Bible Reading: Psalm 44; Proverbs 14

Daily Quote: “Such was God’s original love for man that He was willing to stoop to any sacrifice to save him; and the gift of a Savior was the mere expression of that love.”

– Albert Barnes

This Week’s Verse to Memorize:

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. ~Psalm 5:11
