No Believer Left Behind

“And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
Typically, this verse is used to reinforce the importance of working together within the marriage contexts. However, during our support group this week, the speaker was encouraging the importance of accountability, especially for men, in the area sexual morality.
No Man Left Behind.
This is a military concept that can reign true within the body of Christ. The story of Hacksaw Ridge was a true story about a private in the army during WWI. Andrew Garfield is a hero because of his bravery to help around 100 men, including some of the enemy. He unselfishly carried, medicated, and prayed for each individual as he brought them to safety, without firing a gun. He saved many lives and won a Congressional Medal of Honor.
There is safety within the Christian union, particularly, when strong accountability is present. There are not many believers who survive on their own, primarily because we weren’t created to function by ourselves. With the right accountability their strength, transparency, healing, encouragement, brotherly kindness, and an array of other perks sets us up for a productive life with Christ.
And let us not forget the ‘threefold cord’ reminds us that Christ is completely committed to us and making the union that much stronger. He is the foundation, the glue that all our relationships hang on. And we know Jesus declares, “No Believer Left Behind.”
