My Sins Are Forgiven

“but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

Good morning on this new week of Freedom Fighters. Thank you for joining us Monday through Friday.

I am working on reading through the Bible again this year, and right now, I am in Leviticus!

This is when I know I have ADHD. (I am not being sarcastic and not poking fun at anyone with ADHD).

I am so glad that I am not living in those days. I am glad I am not one of the Priests.

Those guys had to be brilliant to keep track of all of the sacrifices for the various offerings. It is crazy.

I can’t be the only one, right?

I am very thankful that I live on this side of the Cross.

I am thankful that Jesus paid my sin debt – past, present, and future.

“I am thankful that He has removed my sin as far as the east is from the west.” (Psalm 103:12)

“I am thankful that He has buried my sins in the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:19)

I am thankful that I don’t have to go through hoops remembering what kind of sacrifice I need to bring, or try to figure out if my sacrifice was blemished or unblemished.

I am thankful for the verses throughout Scripture that ASSURE me that my sins are forgiven.

“If we confess our sin HE is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

I love how Horatio Spafford wrote about this in his hymn, IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL – MY SIN – O the bliss of this glorious tho’t – my sin – NOT IN PART BUT THE WHOLE, Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more – Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.

If you are in Christ, your sin debt has been paid for past, present and future. But when you sin – you don’t need to go to a priest, you don’t need to go find a sheep or a ram or a pigeon. The blood of JESUS has cleansed you!

Is there sin in your life? Confess it! Call it as God sees it and rejoice that your sins are forgiven.

I will share some additional thoughts about this next week.
