Live Courageously – The Lord is with You!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9IS

I am very thankful today for the word “is” in the Scriptures. The word “was” reflects back to the past and the words “will be” are a promise for the future.

But I love the fact that God’s Word is filled with verse after verse that have the promise that we have a God who IS.

If you want to do a fun exercise from now to the end of the year, grab your pen or highlighter, and as you read God’s Word, circle, underline, highlight all the times you come across the word IS in reference to the Lord.

When Joshua shared this verse with the children of Israel I am sure that he was remembering all of those memorable moments serving with Moses that he witnessed the God of the impossible doing amazing things. How many times did he see God’s miraculous hand at work on behalf of his people?

This morning you may be facing some challenging moments in your life. It might be with your health, your finances, your kids, your job, your marriage. You may be filled with fear and need a big dose of courage.

Can I remind you of several of those IS promises?

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;  My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Psalm 18:30

The Lord IS my Shepherd, I shall not want. – Psalm 25:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1

God IS my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble. Psalm 46:1

And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

I trust this reminder will encourage your heart today. You have a Lord who IS!!! Praise His name! – Bill Welte is President/CEO of America’s Keswick

Think About This: You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness. Then He is like a rose blooming in the midst of the desolation, a rock rising above the storm. Robert Murray M’Cheyne

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior; Titus 1:1-2
