His Will

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. (Psalm 143:10)

It is God’s will that all men be redeemed (1 Tim 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 18:23; Matt 23:37) It is for this reason God sent His only begotten Son, giving Him as a propitiation for our sin (1 John 2:2). To benefit from this gracious gift we must accept it by faith (Eph 2:8-9). It is our choice ‘to treasure God above all else’ that pleases Him; and the writer of Hebrews tells us it’s impossible to please God without faith (Heb 11:7). Therefore, the will of God is to walk by faith and not by trusting in ourselves, thereby accepting His gracious gift of Salvation by believing in His Son who died for us, which pleases Him.

Anchor your life and its cardinal decisions in this manner and all other choices will fall into line with God’s perfect will.

We struggle because we inordinately put our will as the primary purpose and try to squeeze God unto our box. This is to treasure ourselves above God which is sin. Perfection cannot be squeezed into anything and all our frustration and discontentment comes from trying to do so. Let go of your will, ‘casting all your care on Christ’ (1 Peter 5:6-7), putting it to death with Christ on the Cross (Gal 2:20; phil 3:7-11; 2 Cor 5:14-15), and pick up His burden (will) which is light (Matt 11:28-30). Choose Christ in this manner each and every day and you will know contentment in Him… no matter the storm that rages in this life.

   Choose wisely.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 NIV)
