Don’t Stay Quiet

Proverbs 14:23 says, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads to only poverty.”

I have been “blessed to grow up in a family that had a strong work ethic. My parents and six siblings always worked hard to achieve a certain amount of success in the fields of work they chose. I was “cursed” to work in a field where if you didn’t work hard, you were not at that job for too long. Forty-six years of full-time work in the food service industry has taught me well that there is always something to do. Whether it’s prepping for guests days in advance, cleaning, or loading the freezer with things that will keep for weeks.

This may be the last Freedom Fighter blog that I write as a staff member at America’s Keswick, as I am retiring on June 3rd. Prayerfully, I will continue doing so afterwards. Should these last few days be easy? Should I just kick back and let the others do all the work? Not a chance!! I have spoken to the new food service director, saying that if I’m in town and he may need a helping hand for a day or two, that I would love to help. I know that once my time at Keswick is done, I will always be working somewhere. Maybe a small bakery or ranger on a golf course so I can get cheap or free golf! I will need to stay active that way. I just pray it will be on my terms.

2 Timothy 4:7 says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

So, when you’re tempted to just slide threw the workday or the last few weeks of any job, be bold; let them know you’ve still got it. Leave with mighty roar. Don’t stay quiet!

Think About This: “Learn to commit every situation to God, and trust Him for the outcome. God’s love for you never changes, no matter what problems you face or how unsettled life becomes.” – Billy Graham

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.” – Hebrews 2:10-11
