A New Creation

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

In Greek, the word ‘creation’ is ‘ktisis’ used for denoting the ‘establishment of a new administration.’ In context then, someone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ, having entered into Him as a ‘refuge of salvation’ is now under a ‘new administration’ or body of law. The old law no longer holds authority over them.

Just as when any city/state is conquered, its laws are superseded by the victors; so too when Jesus defeated sin and death, and established a new Priesthood “…with an oath by the one who said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever.'” This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.” (Heb 7:21-22)

By necessity, when the priesthood changed (Heb 7:12) He also set aside the old law and established a new administration on the foundation of the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

Paul writes, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit”(Romans 8:1-4 NIV).

For those who have placed their faith in the completed works of Jesus Christ, “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4 ESV)/

How powerful is that! We are free from the power and control of sin, and made alive in Christ, fully redeemed and completely justified, and walking in Newness of Life! No longer do we have to strive for our own rights and position… Praise the Lord!

This freedom can be yours with one choice to trust in Jesus… let go of your pride and find rest in Him today.

Choose wisely….

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
