20 Ways to Simplify
Posted on February 15, 2016 by America's Keswick in Freedom Fighters
Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us. ~Hebrews 12:1
My co-worker and friend, Graeme Wilson, has been giving me books and articles to read about simplifying my life. In a world that drives us to be do more, get more, be more – we need to take a step back and look at ways to simplify our lives rather than drive the bus over overload that consumes so many of us.
Here is a good list of 20 ways that we can simplify from the pen of Dr. Steve Stephens. These are worth our consideration:
- Eliminate ten things from you life.
- Cut back on TV.
- Escape to a quiet spot.
- Set your own pace.
- Get rid of clutter.
- When you bring in something new, throw out something old.
- Do only one thing at a time.
- Say no at least once a day.
- Enjoy the little things.
- Take at least four breaks per day.
- Determine what really matters.
- Make peace with all people.
- Tell the truth.
- Appreciate beauty.
- If you don’t need it, don’t buy it.
- If you don’t have time, don’t do it.
- Have a place for everything and put everything in its place.
- Share your thoughts, feelings, and opinions with a friend every day.
- Make time to pray.
- Thank God for what you have.
Interesting list? Next week I will start to unpack some of the things I have been learning in trying to put these principles into practice in my life. And you should encourage Graeme to do the same!!!

Daily Quote: “Simplicity does not come easily. To withstand the pressures of society requires constant effort and discipline. On the other hand, relax. You can’t force simplicity. Don’t try to be something you’re not. Simplicity is a gift.”
This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. ~Hebrews 13:18 (NKJV)
