Jenkinson's Boardwalk and Aquarium:

Sterling Hill Mine and Mining Museum:

  • The site in Ogdensburg was first mined in the late 1600s for iron and zinc. The mine was important especially during the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The museum is rich in both history and science.
  • The minerals are largely fluorescent, dull under sunlight, spectacular with black light. This area is the most important site for fluorescent minerals in the world. Children and teens can learn about minerals and fossils in the Discovery Center.
  • Guided tours take you through the mine and kids can collect minerals on the old dumps.

  • Located in Whiting, New Jersey, on the shore of Lake Keswick, this adult and youth retreat center is surrounded by acres of forest, honeycombed with hiking trails. Swimming and fishing are popular as well as boating with paddleboats, canoes and kayaks.
