The Happiest Place on Earth

I was reading a devotion and it talked about a sign at Disney that read “The Happiest Place on Earth.” And I thought about that. I have not been on many vacations. But for me the happiest place is with the Lord. No matter where you are if you just take time to look, breathe in, and listen, right where you are can be and really is the happiest place. When I focus on creation and all the things the Lord has created for me to enjoy, I am at peace and rest. Taking time to breathe in the fragrances of the flowers, listening to the birds singing, hearing the wind rustle through the trees… and then to hear the laughter of a baby and see the smile of an elderly person whose family came to visit, or a couple walking the beach holding hands. The sound of the ocean lapping the shore, the pitter patter of the rain on the roof. There are so many things to notice and take in around us.

Each day can be a vacation of your busy life, and where you are can be the happiest place on earth if you just take the time to “stop and smell the roses.” I do this pretty much everyday and I don’t miss taking long vacations. For me life is so much better if you just take the time to listen, breathe, and see all that God has for us right where we are. Take some time now and then thank Him for all He has blessed you with.
