Majestic, Mighty… and Peaceful?

Here’s a Challenge! Think about every body (or form) of water you can think of, and try to list them out! (Don’t read on until you do!)

___

You may have thought of words like ice, the ocean, or a river. If you REALLY thought about it, you may have even thought of words like bayou, distributary, or arroyo (yes, I used Google to find those words.)

I’m sure that no matter what word you thought of, you thought of something beautiful. Maybe it was fresh fallen snowflakes or the glassy Keswick lake on an Autumn morning. Whatever it was, it was probably charming, and I believe God created water to teach us a little more about his character. Think about it! If you visit the shore, you’ll see powerful, majestic, mighty roaring waves. This reminds me of Psalm 93:1a “The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength;”

If you visit the mountains, you might find a serene and tranquil stream… this reminds me that God is the God of all comfort and peace (2 Corinthians 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 14:33)

Water can demonstrate God’s cleansing power, His beauty, and His love… And no matter what, we know water gives LIFE. We can’t survive without it for more than three days… and as water is the source of earthly life, we know the Lord is the source of ALL life… in this present age and the age to come. 💙

“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.” – John 4:14

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: 17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love [c]Him because He first loved us. -1 John 4:17-19
