Real Hope

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

I’ll start with the bottom line. God is the only source of true, genuine, lasting hope. All other sources will disappoint; eventually they will all fail, guaranteed.

That hope is accessed by believing God, taking Him at His word and trusting Him.

For those who have experienced one disappointment after another, hope may be hard to come by.

In my personal experience, I realize I have to ask myself the hard question: “What am I really trusting in? Am I trusting a person, a program, a plan, or a purse?” If so, my hope is misplaced.

Only hope in Jesus and His word, His promises will supply real hope.

At times when I believe I really am trusting in God, the question becomes, “Am I trusting God to keep His promises from His word, or to fulfill my plan for what I want?” If in reality I am trusting God to answer my prayers to fulfill my plan, then my hope is misinformed.

God’s abounding hope is accessed by trusting Him and His word, empowered by His Spirit.  This hope cannot be manufactured in our own power. If hope lies in any other means, or sought from any other source, our hope is misguided.

Real hope is grounded in the Person of Jesus Christ and His word. He is the only source that gives true, genuine and lasting hope. Real hope.

Blessings,
