He Knows My Name

“He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call,”
Having gotten separated in the crowd and not knowing where I was, a feeling of loss began to creep into my thoughts. Masses of people moved all about me, all consumed with their own thoughts and destinations; no one noticed this small child who was separated from his father. It’s amazing how time seems to stand still when fear takes over, yet our thoughts race with all the possibilities… I can’t tell you the relief I knew when I heard that familiar voice of my father… calling my name.
My Dad is gone now and I am much older than that lost child, but what I would give to hear that familiar voice, along with a few others, to call my name. As much as I would enjoy that, my Dad, knowing he could not be there for me forever made sure I knew someone who could. He told me about the Heavenly Father who sent His Son to make possible for us to hear His voice calling our name forevermore. It’s hard to describe in words what it’s like to be assured of such a powerful love that consumes all my fears and provides for my every need.
Jesus stands at the door of your heart, calling your name. You cannot deny it, as sure as you are that I have written these words to you; and I do so because I care whether you know how much He loves you and that He proved that love on a cross called Calvary.
He knows your name, just as He knows mine. He knew who I was when He carried my cross, He knew that I would fail Him but He took the loss. He knew the same of you, and yet he waits for you to come; He is calling your name…
Choose wisely…
And he knows my name
Every step that I take
Every move that I make
Every tear that I cry
He knows my name;
When I’m overwhelmed by the pain
And can’t see the light of day,
I know I’ll be just fine
‘Cause he knows my name.
