Mirror…Mirror

Work Hard Stay Humble
When a woman’s talents and abilities merit attention and she acknowledges such, we gals say things like: she’s smart, but she knows it; she’s talented, but she knows it; she’s wise, but she knows it. It’s the “knows it” part that is an affront to us.
I love the way William Gurnall puts it in his anthology, The Christian in Complete Armour:
“She reflects too much on herself and enjoys her own face too often in the mirror of achievement.” (my substitution of the feminine pronoun)
Isn’t that a great statement? One which we can all relate to, me thinks.
Self-denial is the companion of humility. “I die daily.” I need to remind myself of the importance of that every single day if I am to serve my King with any amount of humility.
Oh, that I could tattoo on my brain…and my heart…Philippians 2:3-8.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!”

And to think He knows my name…Wow!
