Mental Health and the Church
Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 10am – 12:30pm
The Church is a place where many turn to find healing and support for many of life’s struggles and trials. The Church is challenged to serve through the “one another’s” of scripture. The church is where the broken and hurting go to seek out help from God. Unfortunately, the Church often drops the ball when a member is struggling with something invisible. Understandably, a broken arm or cancer diagnosis is much easier to recognize than a broken spirit. Today, the Church is challenged to understand Mental Health in a new way, to treat it differently than a “sin” issue in one’s life. Our goal is to transform some of the unhealthy attitudes towards mental health and assist the church in being a place of hope and acceptance in the midst of an isolating struggle.
HOSTED BY Juan Mendez, Director of the Colony of Mercy & Dr. Lynne Jahns, Director of Barbara’s Place
