Did Babylon Really Say?

“And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” – Revelation 18:4-5 (NKJV)

All I was hoping for was that God, and the people around me, would forgive me…so I said the sinner’s prayer, nailed a commitment to a wooden cross then sat down. Wasn’t too long after that is when I heard people say that they were on the winning side and they’re gonna come back with Jesus and kick the devil’s tail all over the place. Now, not that I’m some sorta end times expert or eschatological theologian, but the way I read it is there ain’t gonna be anywhere to go if you’re one of those left behind. So, it seems to me we need to be concerned more with the here and now then the what’s to come…just sayin’.

I recently read something in The Berean Call that has struck that very chord. “We stand on the cusp of the Tribulation and Day of the Lord, and God’s Word prophesies that Babylon will once again be on the scene of events—only this time its powerful influence will be felt worldwide. This time, Babylon not only has dominant armies, powerful economic and educational systems, and strongly entrenched and popular religions, it also has extremely effective mass communication networks to disseminate its ways into the minds of men, influencing men against their Creator and His people.”

When we see what is happening all around us its easy to say the end of days is upon us but it also should say something that Jesus would say and can be recited in just two words “Be Ready.”

“And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” – Matthew 25:10-13

I have said this to people that listen to me talk Torah/Gospel and then say that it’s all hogwash… “The Devil doesn’t care if you’re in hell, so long as you’re not in heaven. The Devil’s self-declared purpose is to keep you from God’s presence, by any means necessary.” Ya’ll can go back to Genesis 3 and read it for yourselves. You’ll see that a carefully placed worldly lie blossomed into a spiritual death that only Jesus Christ can rescue you from…if you’re ready.

As a society, we are bombarded everyday with bad news from Babylon. It wants us to stay in this catatonic state that says only we can save ourselves if we simply do A, B, and C. The problem with that is A, B, and C is everchanging and constantly draws us into a compassion tainted with a polluted worldview and unfortunately that view says “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Gen 3:6) I hate to say this but you could bestest person in the whole world, in your own eyes, and still be the lostest person on the planet. Sad…but true.

However, the coolest thing to realize is that God doesn’t want us to be lost but found under the canopy of His compassion. That was the way it was supposed to be in the beginning but a bad guy that was thrown outta heaven for his rebellion wanted what he landed on to be just as corrupt as he was, so he took prisoners…and now we need rescue, thus the warning we read in Revelation 18:4-5. If we don’t heed this warning then the rest of this chapter becomes our calamity. It’s just that simple.

I know that I refer to what happened in The Garden a lot but when we see what Babylon is really saying we should all take heed. That the first 11 chapters of Gods Word is under attack and if we don’t “Come out of her” then our adversary has succeeded in usurping what “Thus Saith The LORD.” Do you really want that? Do you really wanna live with an unstable compassion for God’s creation? Do you really wanna live a life that gets tossed about like a raft out in the ocean?

I ask myself these questions on a daily basis and find myself falling so short that I’m only left with this question, “Who can save me from this body of death? I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!” AMEN!?

Think About This:“God wants to please you. He is pleased when you are His child, when you’re surrendered, when your will is His will and His will is yours, when you are not in rebellion and not seeking your own will. God loves to please His people.” – A. W. Tozer
