You are His Treasure

There is a family I know of that has been blessed with much wealth, beyond what I can imagine. Very few things of this world’s goods would be beyond reach for them, and yet they keep a godly perspective on it all. Their children are a treasure to them and are deeply loved.

Imagine the little girl in the family drawing her dad a picture and proudly giving it to him. Because he delights in her, that picture becomes of incredible value to him, far more than anything money can buy. He loves the picture because he loves his daughter.

In the same way, our Father delights in us. We are His treasure. We are His jewels. He gave His Son to purchase our salvation because we mean that much to Him. We are not talking about a disinterested Creator who did His work and then just sent us on our way. We are talking about the God of the universe who, despite our rebellion, loved us individually enough to want our company. He loved us enough to sacrifice so that we could be restored to Him. He craves our friendship – how mind-boggling is that?! We bring joy to Him when we choose to be in relationship with Him. I find it hard to understand that what I do has an impact on the King of the Universe and yet repeatedly in Scripture, we see affirmation of that very concept.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Does that sound like a disinterested God out there somewhere? Have you ever had anyone exult over you with loud singing? And yet Father loves you so much that He can’t help breaking out in singing, rejoicing over His creation – you!

What negative messages are you receiving these days? Are you in a difficult relationship with a loved one? Is your work unfulfilling and frustrating, filled with unhelpful comments from your boss or coworkers? Are your children difficult to deal with? Do you feel alone?

Hang on to the truth. Father is far from disinterested. He is in the midst of all the difficult things you are dealing with. He knows things are tough, and yet He is cheering you on, rejoicing over you with loud singing. Will you allow Him to quiet you with His love?

Think About This: “Believe God’s love and power more than you believe your own feelings and experiences. Your rock is Christ, and it is not the rock that ebbs and flows but the sea.”– Samuel Rutherford

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: O Lord, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You shall be ashamed. “Those who depart from Me Shall be written in the earth, Because they have forsaken the Lord, The fountain of living waters.” Jeremiah 17:13
