The Enemy’s One Weapon

Posted on June 25, 2021 by Catey Stover in Victory Call

I recently read something that has had me thinking for a few weeks now.  It’s simple really, but for some reason I never really thought about it.

Satan has one and only one weapon.  He uses it in many different ways – in the ways that he knows will be most effective in individual situations.  But when it all boils down to it, the enemy has only one weapon.

DECEPTION

Think about it.  His entire battle plan is based on deception and lies.  He is, after all the father of lies. “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)

The deception – which started back in the Garden – is ultimately that God is not who He says He is.

Some of the lies we may believe are:

God is not big enough to handle this

God is not powerful enough to change this

God does not care about me

God is not sovereign

God loves others but He does not love me

God is not good

God is not trustworthy

God’s plan is not in my best interest

God is not creator

God does not have the right to define right and wrong in my life

The list of lies that Satan has promulgated across billions of peoples for generations and generations is limitless in that he specializes in spreading the deception that will most effectively distract and destroy in each situation. There is no truth in him (John 8:44).

You may remember a recent Victory Call “It’s a lie” (December 18) in which I shared how important it is to recognize a lie for what it is.  The power of the lie is in its ability to deceive. If we are not alert to the wiles of the devil we will be easily taken captive by his deception.

The enemy may have one weapon but it is very effective to distract us from Truth.  The only way to spot deception is to thoroughly know the Truth.

Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life.” (John 14:6) Jesus is the Living Word, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) Jesus’ Word is Truth. “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

The best way to spot deception is to know Jesus and know the Word.

Blessings,

Diane
