The Enemy’s One Weapon

“…there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (John 8:44b)

Satan has one and only one weapon.  He uses it in many different ways – in the ways that he knows will be most effective in individual situations.  But when it all boils down to it, the enemy has only one weapon.

DECEPTION

His entire battle plan is based on deception and lies.  He is, after all the father of lies.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44).

The deception – which started back in the Garden – is ultimately that God is not who He says He is.

Some of the lies we may believe are:

God is not powerful enough to change this.

God is not sovereign.

God loves others but He does not love me.

God is not good.

God is not trustworthy.

God’s plan is not in my best interest.

God is not Creator.

God does not have the right to define right and wrong in my life.

The list of lies that Satan has promulgated across billions of peoples for generations and generations is limitless in that he specializes in spreading the deception that will most effectively distract and destroy in each situation. …there is no truth in him (John 8:44).

The power of the lie is in its deception.  If we are not alert to the wiles of the devil we will be easily taken captive by his deception.

The enemy may have one weapon but it is very effective in distracting us from Truth.  The only way to spot deception is to thoroughly know the Truth.

Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6).  The Word is Truth. “Sanctify them by Your truth; Your word is truth” (John 17:17).

Discern deception by the Spirit by knowing Jesus and knowing the Word.

Think About This: Your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions. When the Word gets rooted in there and begins to change your mind, it begins to heal your emotions and turn your will away from self-will and onto doing the will of God.” – Joyce Meyer
